Rainbow Brite - A Magical Badass

Cartoons in the 80s and 90s, even when cutsie, were far more epic and imaginative than we often give them credit for. Now no one is saying that the 80s wasn't epic and creative, but I bet you don't remember Rainbow Brite being that way. Except she was, especially in her full-length feature film.

Just the imagery of a realm of color found at the end of a rainbow, where a multi-colored girl rides a majestic horse across the sky, is incredibly captivating. How could you not find this cool?

Sadly, the most recent (and quickly forgotten) webseries reboot of the character was a complete flop, and vastly pales to the My Little Pony series, which now has a brand new movie. I get that the newer Rainbow Brite was only attempted because of the success of My Little Pony, but if they're not going to approach a new reboot with any sort of thoughtfulness, creativity, or tact, then why bother? No one is going to watch a half-baked Rainbow Brite that can only be watched on one lone website, and no one should.

If the owners of Rainbow Brite ever get their act together, I hope they try again to revamp the franchise. Cause there are way too many rainbow colored shows out there right now, and very few of them have a clearly defined identity.
