Sadie - Animation Shot 02

Backstory:
Sadie, a young motivated world traveler, is a character I originally came up with to be part of a final project for a music video class at my film and art college. The music video was never fully finished, and was only ever rendered in rough animatics. The song I based the visuals on was Paul Hardcastle's "Walkin' To Freedom," one of my favorite smooth jazz tracks. Sadie will most likely move away from her original inception in this music video, and become a character with a grander backstory and more adventures under her belt. But I wanted to share these initial pieces of animation and rough sketches to show where she came from after the original character model sheet. I hope you enjoy.

Description:
Around the 2nd quarter of the music video, Sadie reaches the ocean side on a dusty beach, and looks out onto the expanse of the ocean before her. Soon after she make the decision to chop down a tree next to her with her portable axe, and she constructs a raft on which she will float across to the nearby land mass across the coast-line.
