Original Dirty Pair TRIBUTE

My latest piece of fan-art dedicated to the Original Dirty Pair. Which, in fact, is not the "original Dirty Pair." Actually, the Dirty Pair began as a set of novels, which were inspired by a female wrestling team apparently named The Dirty Pair. So this was the 3rd incarnation, before being reborn as Dirty Pair FLASH. 

This version of The Dirty Pair began as a TV series, which shortly thereafter got an OVA of 10 episodes, two OVA films, and a theatrical feature called "Project Eden:" probably my favorite part of the entire franchise. I much prefer the style of 1980s anime used for the OVA episodes and Project Eden because it harbors all of the best quintessential elements that made 80s anime awesome. Big egg-shaped eyes, fluffy hair-styles, muscular curvy female heroines. In fact, both men and women in anime at the time had very sturdy physiques, not to mention their large necks, lol. Sadly that doesn't show through in my artwork here, but I'm not gonna fuss about it, I'm fairly happy with how this piece turned out.

If you have never watched the Dirty Pair 1985 OVAs or the Project Eden film, I highly recommend you give them a peek. The opening titles to Eden should strike you immediately because of its highly stylized and colorful designs, and the score is also SUPER retro. You'll also notice a few homages to other sci-fi films and shows throughout the OVA episodes; most especially Terminator.
